Bobby Bradford – Trumpet: For
the last 40+ years, Bobby has been considered one of Portland’s
most important musical influences. Mr. Bradford spent his early
years playing with such acts as Illinois Jacquet, Charlie Barnett,
Jabbo Smith, Ray Charles and Quincy Jones.
Cleve Williams – Trombone/Vocals: A first
cousin of Bobby Bradford’s, Cleve has been an important
player on the Portland scene for more than 40 years. Mr. Williams’
resumé includes performances with Billie Holiday, Dinah
Washington, Fats Domino, and Ernestine Anderson, as well as
local luminaries such as Roscoe Weathers and Warren Bracken.
Bob Hernandez – Saxophone: Bob has spent
his entire life as a professional musician, 35 years in Las
Vegas with stints in New York, New Orleans, Monterey and Los
Angeles; he has resided in Portland since 1986. Mr. Hernandez
has performed with such acts as Billy Eckstine, Ella Fitzgerald,
Lionel Hampton, Xavier Cougat, Jack Constanzo and Louis Prima.
Bob celebrated his 80th birthday in April of 2003.
Kurt Deutscher – Drums: Kurt graduated
from Portland’s Jefferson High School where he studied
with Sony King and Dee Wiggins. He is a former member of the
United States Marine Corps Band and Voting Member of the NARAS
(the Grammy’s). Mr. Deutscher is best known in Portland
for his 12 years of recording and performing with Tall Jazz.
At age 41, Kurt holds the distinction of being the youngest
member of The Original Jazz Cats. Kurt plays Allegra
